Oral Contraceptive Protocol Training CPE Information

Program Overview

This training has been created to meet the pharmacists training requirement required by the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy to comply with Act 408 of 2021 granting pharmacists the authority to prescribe oral contraceptives.  This program reviews the statewide protocol that was approved by the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy and the Arkansas Medical Board in June 2022.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the screening procedures for patients requesting oral contraceptives.
  2. Describe the conditions that would require a referral to a primary care physician or women’s health provider.
  3. Explain what instructions and educational material should be provided to the patient.

  2. Complete the post-test (must pass with a score of 80% to proceed forward).  You may retake the post-test if you do not receive a passing score.
  3. Complete the lesson evaluation

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

ACPE Credit Designation Statement

These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists up to 1 contact hour or 0.1 CEU. CE credit information, based on verification of attendance and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion.
